Let Visitors Subscribe To Recieve Email Notifications When Someone Comments On Your Blog
Recently I have been helping my Mum get started in the world of internet marketing. As a first step I set up a wordpress blog for her and one of my borther’s who’s also into internet marketing has put together a few videos to show her the mechanics of what to do step by step.
Finally just the other day she made her very first blog post. And to help give a bit of encouragement I posted a short message on my facebook profile page and as a result the blog post got a few comments. It served it’s purpose and a few people left comments, to what was a great first post. Mum’s always been pretty good with words, so the writing part is going to be easy for her, it’s the marketing part that might take a little bit of time to get her head around and the mechanics of using wordpress.
But, I realised that when people comment and in turn get a reply back to their comment, they don’t realise unless they check back at the site again later. So to help build a bit more interactivity, I did a bit of a search and found a few great little plug-ins that let’s people subscribe to receive email notifications when somone leaves a comment on a blog post.
The simple plug-in Subscribe To Comments allows visitors to tick a box when they leave a comment which gives them the option of being notified by email when someone else leaves a comment. The only drawback of this plug-in is that by default, a visitor must first comment before they can subscribe to receive notifications of new comments. But if you want to receive notifications without actually commenting, you can install an additional plug-in Subscribe to Comments Now! which allows you to overcome this little issue.
So, if you use wordpress or manage a plan to use wordpress in the near future to create your own blog or website, these look to be a couple of great little plug-ins that I will most likely be installing on most wordpress websites that I build in the future. If you know of a better solution, let me know, I’m always open to suggestions. And if you want to check out how it works, leave a comment.
